Vintage St Michael Poor Wool Jacket, Size S

This jacket is a classic piece of British fashion history from St Michael, the heritage brand for Marks & Spencer. The coat features a vintage 1980s/ 90s silhouette, known for being intentionally oversized. It has a broad-shouldered, "cocoon" or "swing" shape that is generous at the top and tapers slightly.

The vibrant "scarlet" or "watermelon red" was a popular statement color for high-quality wool pieces during this period.

The mannequin in these picture is size S.

Vintage brand info: St Michael was created by Marks & Spencer (M&S) in 1928, named in honour of M&S co-founder Michael Marks. The brand started as a “quality mark”: early on it was used on certain goods (not all), but by the 1950s, virtually all items sold by M&S carried the St Michael label — clothing, home goods, even some non-textile items. In 2000, M&S decided to phase out “St Michael” from its main clothing lines. The company rebranded products simply as “Marks & Spencer,” aiming to give the brand a more modern, unified identity. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St_Michael_(brand)
