This is a beautiful vintage St Michael (Marks & Spencer) black beaded knitted waistcoat from the 1990s. It features intricate black beadwork in a floral or argyle pattern on a knitted fabric, a blend of acrylic and wool.

Vintage brand info: St Michael was created by Marks & Spencer (M&S) in 1928, named in honour of M&S co-founder Michael Marks. The brand started as a “quality mark”: early on it was used on certain goods (not all), but by the 1950s, virtually all items sold by M&S carried the St Michael label — clothing, home goods, even some non-textile items.
